Fluoxetine is an antidepressant drug that belongs to the class of selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It is used to treat the following conditions: Depression, including major depression, Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), severe depression, irritability and tension prior to menstruation, Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Panic disorder, Bulimia nervosa, an eating disorder marked by binge eating followed by extreme behaviors to avoid gaining weight (purging, fasting, or excessive exercise).
